- ➤ Over 118,000 residents cast votes in the Best of Huntsville 2025 contest for Food & Drink, choosing winners in categories such as bakery, bar, and restaurant. - ➤ Huntsville City Schools broke ground on a $70 million campus at the Chapman site on Reuben Drive on January 8. The project will combine a reimagined STEM Magnet Middle School and Artemis Virtual Academy for grades six to eight and is set to open in January 2028. AL.com
- ➤ Today, Huntsville City Schools broke ground on a new multi-campus site — housing Chapman Middle School, STEM Magnet Middle School and Artemis Virtual Academy. FOX 54

- ➤ A new ADVA veterans’ cemetery will soon be built east of Huntsville on Maysville Road NE using a $13.5 million federal grant to serve over 10,000 interments — construction will begin late summer to honor local veterans. 1819 News
- ➤ City Council will vote on a construction contract for Big Spring Park’s expansion at its next meeting, a move that will set the stage for park upgrades for local residents. WAFF 48

- ➤ Alabama health officials reported that flu-related ER visits nearly peaked at 10% for the week ending Dec. 27 before falling to 6.3% for the week ending Jan. 3, a marked drop from past seasons. They advise residents to get a flu shot and practice good hygiene. AL.com

- ➤ The City approved contracts for public infrastructure improvements and a land sale to Hank Holdings for North Huntsville's new shopping district.
