  • The Annual Martin Luther King Jr. Day parade moved through downtown Huntsville on Saturday as local residents honored Dr. King's legacy.  WAFF 48
  • City of Madison coordinated community support for Sutton Apartments residents after Madison Utilities shut off water because of over $30,000 in unpaid bills. On Friday, Jan. 16, Mayor Ranae Bartlett and community partners met at City Hall to outline assistance, including mobile showers and food boxes.  The Madison Record

EDUCATION NEWS

  • At Monrovia Elementary, Sarah Collins Rudolph (16th Street Baptist Church bombing survivor) shared her story, faith and lessons of love with students today. The event emphasized forgiveness and the importance of learning from history.  FOX 54
  • State Sen. Orr proposed an outcome-based funding model on Friday’s The Dale Jackson Show to improve graduation rates at public colleges + he said the plan will also aim to create more local job opportunities.  1819 News

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Madison County commissioners will take further safety improvements at the Pulaski Pike and Patterson Lane intersection after a crash critically injured a motorcyclist. They plan a traffic study, tree removal and may add streetlights plus a traffic light next week while working with Huntsville Utilities to secure power.  WAFF 48
