  • Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. delivered earlier versions of his famous 'I Have a Dream' speech at Oakwood University in Huntsville and at Miami's Hampton House—showing how his words were shaped by different local audiences.  FOX 54
  • Creed will perform two shows on their Summer of ’99 Tour; the band will play in Huntsville on July 22 at Orion Amphitheater and in Orange Beach on July 24 at Wharf Amphitheater. Tickets will go on sale Friday (10 a.m. CT).  AL.com

ECONOMY NEWS

  • Huntsville International Airport recorded 1,722,898 travelers in 2025— a 5.3% increase from previous years, thanks to strong airline partnerships and expanded nonstop routes. Officials plan new air service to Gulf Shores, Orlando/Sanford and St. Pete in 2026 along with major infrastructure upgrades.  Huntsville Business Journal

HEALTH NEWS

  • Huntsville Hospital is acquiring the 180-bed Crestwood Medical Center, its free-standing emergency department in Harvest, and outpatient practices for $450 million; the deal is expected to close in the second quarter, and patient care will remain unchanged.  AL.com
  • Drivers in Huntsville should equip their cars with winter emergency kits filled with essential items like ice scrapers, warm clothing, and portable chargers. The National Weather Service recommends checking these supplies as winter weather approaches to keep everyone safe on icy roads.  FOX 54

  • International baseball comes to Huntsville in 2026 through the Global Baseball Series as teams from around the world plan to compete at local fields — details on scheduling and venues are expected soon.  FOX 54
  • Alabama A&M’s women’s basketball team won 50-41 over Alabama State on Monday at the Mitchell Center in a Bridge Builder Classic game. Kalia Walker scored 15 and Jaida Belton added 11 as the Bulldogs pulled ahead in the fourth quarter to sweep the series.  FOX 54
  • Alabama A&M edged Alabama State 73-69 on Monday night at the Mitchell Center during the Bridge Builder Classic (17 lead changes kept the contest close) as Sami Pissis scored clutch free throws to secure the win.  FOX 54
