ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ Icy roads slowed fire crews on Monday as flames spread through Doublehead Resort lodge in Lawrence County, rendering the building a total loss. FOX 54
ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ Madison County officials warned drivers this morning about dangerous black ice on roadways, urging them to slow down + take extra care as temperatures drop and conditions remain icy. Residents should monitor travel conditions for safety. WAAY 31
- ➤ Roads in portions of north central, northeast, and northwest Alabama and southern middle Tennessee became slick after mixed precipitation ended at 6 p.m. Sunday, and a cold advisory remains today until noon as wind chills drop to around 5 above to 5 below zero (dress warmly). WAAY 31
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Due to dangerously cold temperatures and lingering moisture on roads, city offices including City Hall and Municipal Court have delayed opening until 10 a.m. today while Transit routes will begin at 11 a.m. & warming centers are set up through Tuesday to aid residents in need. City of Huntsville
- ➤ TVA said its power system is holding up today despite icy lines causing outages in parts of the Tennessee Valley. The utility is closely monitoring the wintry conditions. FOX 54
