- ➤ Huntsville Animal Services reached Crisis Level 4 after taking in 77 animals from one address + the shelter is urging residents to adopt or foster dogs during operating hours, Monday through Saturday, to relieve overcrowding. WAAY 31

- ➤ City Barbeque opened its first Alabama location in south Huntsville on Monday, Feb. 9 and drew a large crowd from local residents and chamber representatives — the chain plans to expand to multiple locations in the area. Huntsville Business Journal

- ➤ UAH's ChargerCon offers a full day of gaming and competitions today from noon to 9 p.m. — part of Homecoming Weekend, featuring video game tournaments, cosplay, free-play areas, artist market, and panels for students, alumni, and locals. WAAY 31
- ➤ Huntsville Parks & Recreation is hosting the African American Art Festival today at the Dr. Robert Shurney Legacy Center from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. The free event will include art activities, digital art experiences and artist talks that help people learn about Black History Month. WAAY 31

- ➤ Families can shop without sales tax for emergency supplies from Friday until midnight Sunday at local stores. The tax break covers weather radios, flashlights, batteries and portable generators to help prepare for tornado season. WAFF 48
