- ➤ The Tennessee Valley Chapter of the Army Aviation Association of America was named the AAAA National Super Chapter of the Year during its recent annual social at Rocket City Tavern, where military leaders and sponsors (including IronMountain and Stevens Aerospace) celebrated support for Army aviation soldiers and their families. - ➤ The Downtown Rescue Mission is seeking volunteers for its Feed America First event on March 19 from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Volunteers will load food and drinks onto trucks for distribution to local missions. WAAY 31

- ➤ Last Wednesday, Drake State President Dr. Patricia Sims testified before the federal subcommittee to urge full funding for Pell Grants + boost community college and HBCU support to expand workforce training in Northern Alabama as Congress reviews fiscal year 2027 appropriations. - ➤ Madison City Schools reached a milestone as 25 educators earned National Board Certified Teacher status and 11 recertified their credentials, making a total of 122 NBCTs – a record achievement that supports high-quality instruction. The Madison Record
- ➤ Last week, school superintendents from Madison County, Huntsville City, and Madison City met at the Chamber of Commerce’s annual State of the Schools event to discuss funding and career development challenges. - ➤ The Land Trust of North Alabama closed on a 65-acre purchase on Green Mountain just north of Camelot Drive, permanently protecting the land from future development + community support raised $300K to secure this milestone for their River to Gap conservation initiative. AL.com

- ➤ NASA Force announced on March 4 that it is recruiting top aerospace, software & systems engineers for two-year terms at NASA to boost in-house skills for future Moon missions. Application dates have not yet been set. AL.com
- ➤ City leaders are set to upgrade 3.2 miles of Holmes Avenue with new sidewalks, bike lanes and street lighting in a $30M project designed to boost safety for pedestrians, cyclists and drivers. The project will be complete by 2030. WAAY 31
- ➤ AeroVironment announced Thursday that it was awarded a $97 million contract to build testing facilities at Redstone Arsenal for missile defense & sensor systems. The three-year project called GENESIS will combine hardware with simulated environments to boost U.S. military capabilities. AL.com
