EDUCATION NEWS

  • Fuel Alabama has chosen Huntsville as one of 11 host communities for its 2026 summer programming for students. The initiative will connect college students with local aerospace, defense and technology companies through executive roundtables, industry treks and networking events to build a strong talent pipeline.  Huntsville Business Journal
  • The House unanimously passed two bills that aim to make career tech education more accessible by offering tax credits for companies that loan employees to schools and easing entry for out-of-state teachers. Both measures will need Senate approval within ten working days to reach Gov. Ivey's desk.  WAFF 48

  • House Minority Leader Anthony Daniels said he will file an overtime tax exemption bill within the next couple weeks during FM Talk 106.5's show to help boost workforce participation and industry production. His plan aims to restore lost benefits for local industries.  1819 News

  • Some of the nation’s top gymnasts competed at the Elevate the Stage event in Huntsville on Sunday, Mar. 8 (displaying precision and skill), drawing local fans to the high-energy showcase.  WAFF 48
  • Hazel Green High School's girls' basketball team secured a 67-47 win over Park Crossing — completing their revenge tour and capturing the 6A state title on Mar. 8. The victory capped a season defined by hard work and team spirit.  WAAY 31
  • UAH women's basketball lost the Gulf South Conference title game on a buzzer beater but earned the top seed (in the South Region) in the NCAA Division II Tournament and will host Edward Waters at Spragins Hall. The men's team is a 7-seed set to face Palm Beach Atlantic.  WAAY 31
  • Hoover clinched its sixth straight 7A girls’ state basketball title by beating Bob Jones 61-43 on March 8 in Birmingham.  WAAY 31
