- ➤ Downtown roads will be closed Saturday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. for the 49th annual Ellen McAnelly Memorial St. Patrick's Day Parade (managed by police) as the event kicks off at 11 a.m., so drivers should plan alternate routes. WAFF 48
- ➤ The Greater Huntsville Chapter of Jack and Jill will host a free Children’s Fun Run on Saturday, Apr. 11 at 8:00 a.m., encouraging kids ages 4 to 18 to build up their daily activity to reach 26.1 miles (parents must join children under 8). WAFF 48

- ➤ DISH Network stopped carrying WAFF 48 News for Huntsville viewers on Tuesday, March 10 after a renewal deal failed, leaving customers without access to local programming. Viewers may switch to other providers (cable or streaming services) or use an antenna to watch for free. WAFF 48
CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ The Huntsville Music Office will host its Quarterly Music Meetup on Tuesday, March 24 from 6-8 p.m. at Tip Top Cafe (125 Maple Avenue NW) where local artists, venue operators and fans will network and learn about 2026 music initiatives. City of Huntsville
- ➤ Huntsville Comic-Con kicked off at Lowe Mill on Mar. 12 with *free* admission, although attendees paid for parking. The event brought local comic fans together to celebrate pop culture. WAAY 31
- ➤ The Panoply Arts Festival will be held at Big Spring Park from April 24 – 26, featuring over 115 artists and a performance by Huntsville native Jazz McKenzie. Individual tickets and weekend passes are available for purchase. WAFF 48
- ➤ Christy Hochberger Bates was named the 2026 Joan Marcus May Community Award recipient by the Huntsville Ballet Guild and will be honored at the Spring Soirée fundraiser on April 12 at the Huntsville Botanical Garden. WAAY 31

- ➤ Morgan County Schools has introduced new safety measures aimed at boosting campus security and staff training across all schools, with the changes set to roll out soon + details to be provided to families. WAFF 48
- ➤ The Alabama House passed a $10.9 billion Education Trust Fund Budget for fiscal year 2027 on Thursday morning—allocating 72.46% for K-12 schools, 27.54% for higher ed, and funds for teacher pay, technical education, and early learning to boost academic progress. 1819 News
- ➤ More than 1,000 child abuse experts will gather at the Von Braun Center from March 16-19 for the 42nd International Symposium on Child Abuse; Dr. Lisa Conradi will deliver the keynote at 4:30 p.m. on March 16, and the NCAC (founded in 1985) is hosting the event. WAAY 31
