COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Following the Artemis II launch on April 1, the U.S. Space and Rocket Center saw a surge of visitors including school groups and families eager to explore space. The renewed interest marks a new age in space exploration as NASA prepares for future missions.  FOX 54

ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • Firefighters battled brush fires on Nick Davis Road in Monrovia Thursday (between Wall Triana Highway and Orvil Smith Road) and urged drivers to slow down and use alternate routes to avoid hazards.  WAAY 31

  • Calhoun is hosting STEAMposium to help students in grades 4 through 12 explore science careers. Interactive activities (including hands-on experiments) are planned to engage attendees in Calhoun.  WAAY 31

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Travelers at Huntsville International Airport will notice two major construction projects underway today as the facility continues scheduled renovations. Officials have not provided further details on the work.  WAFF 48

HEALTH NEWS

  • Crestwood Medical Center joined Huntsville Hospital Health System today and will keep its name and colors while investing in new equipment and nurse compensation to boost emergency, labor, stroke, and trauma services. The integration will strengthen local care by reinvesting profits in the community.  1819 News

  • Hotel Indigo, a 112-key boutique hotel, is set to open soon in the MidCity District at 940 N. Nunnuhsae Park Drive NW — featuring an on-site restaurant, meeting space, fitness center and pet-friendly rooms near major employers.  AL.com
