- ➤ After a fire damaged the sanctioned homeless camp on Derrick Street on Sept. 17, city crews cleaned the site and began renovations—adding 84 designated spaces with a hard surface pad and metal privacy fence—while temporarily relocated residents wait to return within the next few weeks. AL.com
- ➤ Special Olympics of Madison County is calling on Huntsville residents for volunteers and donations to support its upcoming Tuesday track and field event at Milton Frank Stadium, where over 750 athletes need two escorts each and only 300 volunteers are registered. Without more support and since the event receives no state or federal funding (a gap that could lead to cancellation), the organizers urge community help immediately. WAAY 31

- ➤ Two of five suspects wanted in the abduction of Huntsville realtor Ronald Dumas Jr. were arrested in Shelby County, Tennessee on Tuesday—Quintarius White was booked for Aggravated Assault — Act in Concert and Kierra Clark was booked for Especially Aggravated Kidnapping. WAFF 48

- ➤ Representative Mike Rogers said in a podcast that an announcement about Space Command moving to Huntsville is expected soon. WAFF 48
- ➤ The House Health Committee approved a bill that will let the Alabama Farmers Federation offer health plans to its members and families — the measure now goes to a House vote today before moving to the Senate. 1819 News
- ➤ Huntsville Police Department is reminding drivers to follow the hands-free law as part of the NHTSA Distracted Driving Awareness Campaign to keep roads safe. The department will share tips throughout April while enforcing the law—first applied Jan. 1, 2024—to help reduce accidents. Huntsville Business Journal
- ➤ Locally owned pharmacies in Huntsville reported that a bill passed Tuesday will change reimbursement rules to secure a $10.64 dispensing fee—local owners say it is a lifeline that will help them compete without raising patient co-pays. The Community Pharmacy Relief Act sets new rules for PBMs and directs rebate funds to insurance providers—pharmacies will begin receiving reimbursements on October 1 as the measure awaits Governor Kay Ivey’s signature.
