🚧 Accidents
A Falkville man died in a two-vehicle crash on Thursday on AL-36 near Upper River Road when his 2008 Ford Mustang struck a 2016 BMW X3, hit a tree, and killed him; authorities identified him as William E.
Gosa (56) and said the accident is under investigation.
💼 Business
Boeing in Huntsville was named for making the coolest thing in Alabama—its PAC-3 seeker that helps the Patriot air defense system work.
The company made over 500 units last year and will open a 35,000-square-foot expansion this spring to make 30% more parts.
Altitude Trampoline Park in Huntsville reopened last weekend from April 4–6 with over 10 new attractions including a competitive dodgeball tournament and a new Toddler Zone where parents can keep a close eye on young jumpers.
Owner Ben Thomas said the park saw a 20% increase in attendance after the update and now operates with extended hours to better serve the community.
Boeing's Huntsville site was named the 2025 Coolest Thing Made in Alabama for making the PAC-3 Seeker—a key part of our air defense system—at an awards ceremony on April 10.
Jim Bryan said the award honors the hard work of his team.
🎭 Culture
St. Stephens Music Hall partners and Velocé Pizza owner Trevar Akins signed a five-year lease on the building at 125 Maple Ave in Lincoln Mill to revive the former Tip Top Café.
They are finishing renovations—where electrical and plumbing are 90 percent complete—and plan to open by football season with space to host more live music.

The Alabama senate passed SB 92 to ban cell phones on public school grounds during class, and the rule will take effect by the 2O25 school year once Gov. Kay Ivey approves it.
Local educators and parents offer mixed opinions on the change—local school boards will decide how to enforce the policy.
🏥 Health
Kitchen Cops inspected restaurants along University Drive in Huntsville this week and found six locations with low safety scores due to issues like residue in ice machines and improper food temperatures—problems that were fixed during emergency follow-up visits.
In Athens, inspectors found a newly opened restaurant that scored 63 for selling home-made flan made in a private kitchen—marking the lowest score in the Tennessee Valley.
📰 Real Estate
Since mid-March—when permits surged—home construction permits reached $92.4M in Madison, Limestone and Morgan counties with new residential and commercial projects planned.
Davidson Homes leads with 42 permits worth $9.1M while Lennar, Woodland and others are building homes in communities including Athens, Huntsville and Decatur.

More than 750 athletes will perform at Milton Frank Stadium on Tuesday, April 15 as Special Olympics of Madison County returns for a day of competition and community celebration—supported by the Office of Multicultural Affairs.
