ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ Fire crews in Huntsville are on heightened alert amid an ongoing drought (which has sparked a surge in grass and brush fires) and remain prepared for increased fire danger as dry conditions persist. WAAY 31
- ➤ MidCity District launched a composting program with NewTerra Composting in December to reduce waste by installing back-of-house systems in restaurants such as Kamado Ramen. The phased plan will later expand the service to residential communities in MidCity. WAAY 31

- ➤ The City is issuing a final call to students and families to apply for the Mayor’s Youth Advisory Council (2026–2027) with a deadline on Tuesday, Apr. 21 at 10 p.m. Selected applicants will gain hands-on experience with local government and join initiatives to bring youth ideas into city decision-making. - ➤ Today, Kitchen Cops reported that a Harvest McDonald’s on Highway 53 and Jeff Road scored 78 after a worker handled food without washing hands and other violations were observed — making it one of three north Alabama spots that did not pass inspection.
