- ➤ An Elkmont man, Johnathan Etter, was arrested after the body of his missing 18-year-old girlfriend was found on Thursday at his home following a missing person report from her family in Ardmore—he faces charges of abuse of a corpse, possession of a controlled substance, and possession of drug paraphernalia as investigators continue their search. EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ UAH reported that federal funding for research hit $154.5 million in Fiscal 2024, and the university spent $639 million on research over five years. Four UAH programs ranked in the top 10 nationally and the school led Alabama in six federal research spending categories (including NASA and Department of Defense support). AL.com

- ➤ The Huntsville Police Department warned that downtown road closures and altered traffic routes will be in effect ahead of the Panoply Arts Festival at Big Spring Park, which runs April 25-27. Williams Avenue will close Monday, April 21 at 8 a.m. + Church Street will close Wednesday, April 23 at 12 p.m. + Monroe Street will allow only southbound traffic from April 25-27, with all roads reopening by 5 p.m. on April 28.
