  • Three hikers reported missing in Bankhead National Forest on Sunday were found safe and uninjured after a coordinated rescue by the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Office + partner agencies; search efforts started near 9:30 a.m. and located them by about 11:30 a.m.  AL.com
  • The Alabama SUN Bucks program offers $120 in grocery benefits for each eligible school-age child to help families replace lost school meals during summer break. Registration is open for families already receiving (SNAP or TANF) benefits.  WAFF 48
  • Brown Farms in Madison County is open for strawberry picking season. The expanded farm now covers 12 acres and offers a full shop, games for kids, and wagon rides to the fields, using underground irrigation to keep crops healthy despite dry conditions.  WAFF 48
