BUSINESS NEWS

  • Valor Scientific Inc., a new biotech startup in Madison, opened thanks to help from TARCOG's revolving loan fund by Neighborhood Concepts Inc. Co-founders Bethany Blake, Dr. Andrew Kodani and Dr. Matthew Knuesel plan to produce growth factors for research and healthcare and will collaborate with a Huntsville-based nonprofit.  The Madison Record
  • Huntsville-based Pinnacle Solutions has been awarded a $24 million contract from Marine Corps Systems Command to design, develop, and deliver an immersive training system for Amphibious Combat Vehicles — a 30-month project that will be executed in Huntsville and supply Marine facilities including Camp Pendleton and Camp Lejeune.  Huntsville Business Journal
  • Co-owners of Nesin Physical Therapy in Huntsville announced Tuesday its acquisition by Intune Physical Therapy of Brentwood, which expands the chain to 19 clinics across four states.   • The annual Panoply Arts Festival returns this weekend at Big Spring Park in downtown Huntsville from Friday, April 24 to Sunday, April 26, featuring live music, art shopping, and hands-on activities + two nights of fireworks.  The Madison Record
  • Huntsville’s Broadway Theatre League announced its 2026–27 season lineup featuring premieres like Waitress from Sept. 25–27 and A Beautiful Noise from Nov. 20–22 — the season mixes familiar classics and family favorites through March 2027.  The Madison Record

HEALTH NEWS

  • Trent Reynolds was named Employee of the Month for April at Madison Hospital for his leadership and dedication as Clinical Pharmacist Lead II—earning multiple nominations from coworkers who praised his kindness and ability to keep the pharmacy team strong.  The Madison Record

REAL ESTATE NEWS

  • Limestone County approved nearly 500 home lots in 2025, but only about 100 have been greenlit this year and 70 are clear for construction. Higher interest rates and more rental apartments have slowed approvals, but officials expect a pickup this summer.  WAFF 48
  • The Huntsville Madison County Builders Association hosts a spring Parade of Homes free and open to everyone + not just homebuyers, inviting locals to tour home designs and see the latest builder trends in the area.  WAAY 31

SPORTS NEWS

  • Rocket City Trash Pandas will host a six‐game home stand with giveaways and special appearances — Saturday, May 2 Country Night will feature an on‐field concert by local band Heartland at Toyota Field.  The Madison Record
  • Micah Pettus, a 6-foot-7 offensive tackle from Florida State, is set to attend the NFL Draft in Pittsburgh this week as he hopes to join his older brother Dell at the Patriots — he was noted for going sack-free in his final two college seasons.  The Madison Record
  • Madison will host the SEC Softball Championships at Toyota Field (a key local sports venue) from May 11-15, 2027 as local officials and sports leaders announced the four-year deal; games will be broadcast live on ESPN and the SEC Network.  The Madison Record
  • Senior athlete Henry Yelverton of Madison Academy, known for his skills in football, soccer, and award-winning gymnastics, will compete at Eastern Nationals in West Palm Beach, Fla, this weekend. He was named Athlete of the Year in Alabama (recognizing his five-event expertise) and continues to balance sports with academics.  The Madison Record
  • Former MLB player Jeffrey Hammonds, a Madison resident since 2011, was inducted into the Huntsville-Madison County Athletic Hall of Fame today at the Von Braun Center. He is honored for his 13 year career and his work coaching local baseball players.  The Madison Record
  • MCCL players earned honors in early tournaments as kindergartners won on April 11 and Bob Jones High took third at KCF nationals; Heritage and Rainbow students will represent Alabama at national events, and monthly open chess nights are held at Madison Community Center (MCCL Director Todd Guthrie).  The Madison Record
