  • Today, residents honor victims of the 2011 tornado in a memorial event marking 15 years since the disaster — a tribute that includes speeches on community strength.  FOX 54
  • Madison County received a Liberty Tree—a Princeton Elm grown in Montevallo with a commemorative bronze plaque—to mark America’s 250th anniversary; county officials picked it up and planted it in early March to honor the nation’s legacy.  AL.com

  • L3Harris will expand its Huntsville facility using a $1B investment from the Department of War to modernize operations and boost R&D, and it plans a Missile Solutions IPO in the second half pending market conditions.  Huntsville Business Journal

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Leah Johnson will be the first to earn a doctorate in chemistry from UAH when she graduates on May 4, making her the inaugural graduate from the doctoral program. She will teach chemistry this summer at Snead State Junior College after researching drug delivery materials (polymer chemistry).  WAAY 31
