CRIME NEWS

  • A Huntsville woman, Julie Yvette Pinchon, was arrested Monday night for driving under the influence after crashing into two vehicles at intersections along Holmes Ave and Triana Blvd and near Triana Blvd and Governors Dr—she fled on foot and allegedly spat on a firefighter while being detained.  WAFF 48
  • Two Huntsville men were charged with armed robbery after they allegedly attempted to rob a food vendor (incident May 6th) (police investigating).  WAFF 48
  • Huntsville Police said the suspect in the Lone Goose Saloon theft—believed to be the same person who broke a pool table at Ronnie Raygun’s on Sunday—was identified by 1 p.m. yesterday.  WHNT News 19

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The Alabama Department of Transportation closed the outermost through travel lane on US-72/University Drive near Sparkman Drive in Huntsville on Tuesday for bridge repairs and also shut the auxiliary lane to the Sparkman exit, with closures set to remain through the weekend—motorists should allow extra travel time and consider alternate routes such as I-565.  WAAY 31
  • Governor Kay Ivey signed a law that will require public buildings undergoing new construction or major renovations to include adult-sized changing tables starting in 2028—grants will cover the installation costs. Local advocates say the law meets long-standing needs for caregivers of older children with disabilities.  WAFF 48
  • The Fraternal Order of Police will hold its annual memorial service today at 6 p.m. at the Memorial Wall on the south side of the Madison County Courthouse to honor 26 fallen law enforcement officers from Madison County; speakers including FOP Lodge Spokesman Donny Shaw and Huntsville Police Chief Kirk Giles will address the service as the public is encouraged to attend.  WHNT News 19

  • Breathe Better Institute will open its first location at The Range on June 30 to offer Huntsville patients fast relief for chronic sinus and allergy issues—using in-office procedures that many insurance companies cover and that cost up to 50% less than hospital surgeries.  WHNT News 19

REAL ESTATE NEWS

  • The retail and office portions of the $145 million Stadium Commons development near Joe Davis Stadium off Memorial Parkway are projected to be completed by the end of summer — after which tenant build-outs will begin and a parking deck with 408 spaces, including 300 leased by the city for $10.5 million for events, will be constructed — and future phases may add a hotel and multifamily complex.  AL.com
