  • Fifteen local businesses earned awards for being great places to work after nearly 6,700 employee surveys were completed. New Hope Children’s Clinic won the Silver award in the Micro Category at a luncheon + held at the VBC Saturn Ballroom.  AL.com

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • ALDOT closed southbound lanes on I-59 between Exit 205 at Collinsville and Exit 188 at Reece City on Friday for crossover repairs lasting several hours — drivers were directed on a detour via SR-68 east, US-11 south and 211 south back to I-59.  WHNT News 19
  • On May 15, the council approved $1,334,500 for renovations at the Dr. Richard Showers, Sr. Recreation Center at 4600 Blue Springs Rd; a 365-day contract with a local design firm will add sports courts, a pavilion, playground upgrades and interior improvements including new floors, lighting and HVAC systems.  WHNT News 19
