- ➤ At about 9:10 p.m. Saturday, Decatur officers responded near the railroad tracks on Alabama Highway 67 when a high-speed Trinity motorcycle struck an SUV — then collided with a train in stopped traffic, and 57-year-old Leroy Goodwin Jr. was pronounced dead at the scene. WAAY 31

- ➤ A woman was critically injured in a shooting Sunday night on the 200 block of Steppe Court when deputies rushed her to Huntsville Hospital—detectives are investigating the incident and early findings point to domestic violence. FOX 54
- ➤ Deputies reached a home on the 200 block of Steppe Court late Sunday evening after reports of a shooting and found a woman with multiple bullet wounds who was taken to a hospital and later pronounced dead—detectives arrested her husband aged 64 for her murder. WAAY 31
- ➤ A woman was shot and is in critical condition with multiple gunshot wounds after a Sunday night incident on Steppe Court in Madison County, and her husband was also taken to the hospital for pre-existing medical concerns—detectives from the Madison County Sheriff’s Office are investigating possible domestic violence. WAAY 31
ECONOMY NEWS
- ➤ On May 19, AAA reported that regular gas in Huntsville cost $2.72 while mid-grade and premium were priced at $3.14 and $3.49. The agency noted a national regular gas average of $3.18 and urged drivers to save fuel (by driving slowly and reducing idling) and use cruise control (when possible) on highways. FOX 54
- ➤ Huntsville now has more than 230,000 residents after new Census Bureau estimates showed the city added nearly 4,200 people in 2024 by drawing 11 new residents per day. Other major cities like Birmingham, Mobile and Montgomery lost thousands of residents, a trend city officials say reflects smart planning and strong economic growth — driving more people to the Rocket City. - ➤ FBI Director Kash Patel said on Fox News Sunday that the agency will move 1,500 workers from Washington to field offices, with some assigned to Redstone Arsenal in Huntsville where updated training and security buildings exist. He said the shift will save taxpayer money and boost FBI field operations by using existing facilities instead of building new ones. 1819 News
