  • Harvest Volunteer Fire Department responded to a structure fire early Sunday morning on Maverick Drive—smoke was seen from the roof and crews from Toney Volunteer Fire and Rescue and Monrovia Volunteer Fire-Rescue used 500 gallons of water, and no injuries were reported.  WAFF 48

CRIME NEWS

  • An overnight shooting in Huntsville on Sunday left one person dead—another injured.  WAFF 48
  • Huntsville police responded shortly before 4 a.m. on Sunday to a shooting on Seminole Drive—one man was taken to Huntsville Hospital in critical condition and a second man suffered non-life-threatening injuries as officers continue investigating.  WAFF 48

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Today, as Memorial Day weekend kicks off, local officials in Huntsville urge residents to follow safety measures when grilling, driving, and supervising swimmers—advising them to check grills for damage and ensuring constant water supervision. Fire Marshal John Michael Williams advised grillers to inspect burners for debris and leaks while Huntsville police will set up eight checkpoints to address impaired driving—steps aimed at keeping the community safe.  WAAY 31
