  • Torian Blackburn is Partnerships and Community Engagement Manager at Orion Amphitheater, where she leads programs to strengthen ties between the venue and local residents.   • VetsinTech launched ViT Vets in Space Huntsville to help veterans and military spouses access aerospace and defense opportunities by partnering with Blue Origin (at the Huntsville Rocket Engine Factory) and JPMorgan, aligning with the region’s expanding workforce at Redstone Arsenal.  Huntsville Business Journal
  • City leaders and Main Street Madison are working to boost downtown Madison’s historic district by adding open-container rules and community events.   • Huntsville’s own Levi Barnes has grown Luxe Home Painting from its 2021 launch to a thriving company recognized with consecutive Best Painting Contractor awards and Alabama’s Best Painting Contractor honor earned in 2025.   • Tennessee Valley’s first Nordstrom Rack will move into the Office Depot space on University Drive. The store will offer a fresh shopping option for local residents (the launch date is expected soon).  FOX 54
  • AeroVironment said Tuesday that it will invest $20.2M in its 24,000 sqft Huntsville facility to boost production of the Freedom Eagle-1 interceptor for the Army. The expansion will create new jobs + enhance production integration, officials said.  Huntsville Business Journal

ECONOMY NEWS

  • Alabama’s workforce saw its preliminary unemployment rate rise to 2.8% in April from 2.7% in March, with 67,115 people unemployed and record gains in wage and salary jobs boosting the labor force. Counties vary from Shelby & Elmore’s 2.0% low to Greene County’s 5.5% high.  1819 News

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The U.S. Navy awarded $132 million in contracts on May 22 to companies Lockheed Martin ($16 million), Polaris Government & Defense ($98 million) and BAE Systems Norfolk Ship Repair Inc. ($17 million) to support infrared system parts, provide specialized vehicles for MEF and maintain USS Iwo Jima through May 2028.  AL.com

HEALTH NEWS

  • Huntsville resident Robin Miller was diagnosed with ALS just over a year ago and now lives each day with a positive mindset, calling her life 'abundant life still.' She shares her experience to encourage others to seek answers (ALS affects over 5,000 people yearly).  WAAY 31
