- ➤ After tornados hit North Alabama last week, East Limestone High School’s school resource officer, Deputy Mike Boyles, lost his home when two massive trees crashed through it — his family received help from neighbors, the Limestone County Sheriff’s Department, and over $9,200 raised on GoFundMe. The Greenbrier Restaurant will hold a fundraiser on June 2 to support the family while they stay with relatives until they secure a rental and Boyles retires this Friday. WAAY 31

- ➤ The Huntsville City Council will vote on raising sewer rates on June 12 to fund a $150 million upgrade to the aging wastewater system (proposal introduced last week), marking the first rate increase in 20 years. The new plan will raise an average bill from $24.15 to $29.15 per month (with a $1 hike each year after 2026 until 2034) while keeping costs below the state average. AL.com
