COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Stuart Obermann and his family completed three workdays earlier this year to mulch, prune, and weed nearly 300 trees along a half-mile stretch of Aldridge Creek Greenway dedicated in memory of their son Eric, who raised awareness about ALS — volunteers from Grissom High School football and Cub Scout Pack 357 joined the effort as the City recognized the area as the Eric Obermann Linear Forest. The project shows the community’s commitment to keeping a cherished local space in good care.  City of Huntsville

  • Huntsville’s Food City will open a new grocery store at 3608 Governors Drive NW on June 4 at 8 a.m.—its grand opening will give local shoppers a fresh option for everyday groceries.  WHNT News 19

  • Authorities from the Huntsville Police Department and Morgan County Sheriff's Office responded to reports of a possible dead body near Highway 231 Bridge on Friday morning north of Lacey’s Spring — motorists were advised to use caution due to delays.  WAFF 48
  • Huntsville police are investigating a shooting on the 200 block of Binford Drive at about 4:30 a.m.—one person died and another was injured with non-life-threatening wounds.  AL.com
  • A Madison County man has been indicted for the murder of tow truck driver Jayson Click who was shot during a repossession in December 2023—Warren Siao remains free on bond as his trial date has yet to be scheduled.  WAFF 48

  • Today, the U.S. Space & Rocket Center is hosting a blue-themed launch party at 8 a.m. for Blue Origin’s New Shepard-32 flight, which will include two Space Camp alumnae and launch at 8:30 a.m. Special pricing of $20 for adults and $15 for children is available from 8 to 9 a.m.  The Madison Record
