CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Limestone County Sheriff’s Office arrested Jason Jermain Johnson (30-year-old from Centerville) on Saturday after he fired shots from his motorcycle at a northbound vehicle on I-65 near mile marker 347, and officers later recovered a loaded pistol and extra magazines while charging him with shooting into an occupied vehicle and three counts of attempted murder. - ➤ Huntsville police arrested 55-year-old Daniel Ray Shelton on Sunday after investigators connected him to the murder of 39-year-old David Merrit of Arab whose body was found Friday at 9:30 a.m. on Highway 231 bridge (Shelton is accused of trying to dump the body in the Tennessee River) and he now faces charges of murder and abuse of a corpse. - ➤ Police said an assault on Saturday evening near Patton Road and Telstar Circle in South Huntsville left one person seriously injured when an alleged gun was used to strike the victim, and officers later detained three suspects — Zamario Williams, Robert Martel, and Zacorrie Dickson from a nearby apartment. - ➤ Two people were injured after a shooting on Sunday morning at about 1 a.m. on Boxwood Drive - both were taken to the hospital and are expected to survive as the investigation continues. WAFF 48
- ➤ Huntsville Police responded to a report of a shooting near the 2300 block of Hammonds Avenue just before 6 a.m. Sunday and saw suspects leaving near UAH; after a vehicle chase and foot pursuit, they arrested local men Quayvion Miller and Keonte Jackie Mosley—charged with discharging a firearm into an occupied building that sustained multiple gunshots with no injuries reported. - ➤ On Sunday, Huntsville Hospital said that the F grade on its patient safety scorecard from Leapfrog is not accurate because the hospital did not complete a 353-page survey. The hospital added that its top facility rating in north Alabama supports its care quality and shows its commitment to patient safety. AL.com
- ➤ On Sunday, Huntsville Hospital issued a statement disputing the Leapfrog safety report after receiving an F grade for errors, infections, and surgical issues—saying the survey did not accurately measure patient safety. WAFF 48
