- ➤ An Alabama family filed a federal lawsuit on June 9 claiming that delays in processing U visa applications have violated their rights and caused constant stress— they argue the nearly six-year wait is too long for a program meant to protect crime victims. The suit names top officials at USCIS and the Department of Homeland Security and seeks either a final decision or placement on a waiting list. AL.com
- ➤ City Council approved a $121,000 contract with Croy Engineering to design a parking lot next to the Front Row development on Holmes Avenue and Monroe Street. The lot will control 340+60 public parking spaces to support downtown events such as those at the Von Braun Center. AL.com
