COMMUNITY NEWS

  • The City of Huntsville postponed the annual Juneteenth Festival from June 14 to June 28 because of weather. The festival will be held from 5 to 9 p.m. at Big Spring Park and will include performances, educational activities, and fireworks.  FOX 54

CRIME NEWS

  • Huntsville police arrested Amber Marie Baker, 25, after a shooting early Monday in the 3900 block of Rucker Circle that left 22-year-old Nicholas Kyle Howell dead—police said the incident began as a planned transaction when Baker used a gun.  WHNT News 19
  • Huntsville Police Department and Madison County District Attorney’s Office arrested 10 individuals on June 13–14—charging them with 34 counts including human trafficking and electronic solicitation of a child—and investigations remain ongoing with each suspect set for an Aniyah’s Law hearing.  City of Huntsville
  • Huntsville police said Amber Baker is charged with murder after an early-morning shooting on Monday (confirmed by the Huntsville Police Department).  WAFF 48

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Huntsville City Council approved four pavement contracts worth over $8.5 million in fiscal 2025 to resurface many streets. The projects, awarded to Rogers Group, Whitworth Concrete Works and Lambert Contracting, will repair driveways, sidewalks and ADA ramps + are part of a larger $20 million road plan.  AL.com
  • The City of Huntsville approved the final two phases of road resurfacing projects from its over $20M budget—three contractors won nearly $9M in bids for work on residential streets and ADA upgrades. Construction will begin in the coming weeks—officials will announce street schedules and project timelines soon.  FOX 54
