- ➤ The City of Huntsville will celebrate National Parks and Recreation Month in July with a 'Build Together, Play Together' series that includes a tie-dye party on July 3, a splash bash on July 9, a Color Jam Family Fun Run & Walk on July 12, a Rec & Read event on July 16, and a glow party called Light Up the Night on July 25—offering free, family-friendly ways to enjoy local recreational spaces. - ➤ The Huntsville Planning Commission approved the 2.4-acre expansion of Big Spring Park East at the former City Hall (308 Fountain Circle) during its Tuesday meeting. - ➤ On Monday, a long-range radar from Boeing Huntsville tracked a missile target off Alaska to support a test of the nation’s ballistic missile defense system. The test validated the Ground-Based Midcourse Defense system’s ability to detect threats at longer ranges — meeting key mission requirements. AL.com
- ➤ City officials are inviting residents to share ideas for repurposing the 165-year-old Huntsville Depot as part of a master planning process that preserves its heritage—Mayor Tommy Battle said options include an entertainment venue and a weekly farmers market.
