- ➤ Joe Wheeler EMC reported that a circuit trip at Lacey’s Spring substation caused an hour-long power outage for some customers on June 29th. The company is investigating the cause — and will update residents when more details are available. WHNT News 19

- ➤ Pizzelle’s Confections in Huntsville was named the No.10 best chocolate shop in the U.S. by USA Today on June 29—after being voted No.1 in 2024, the shop thanked its supporters as LaRue Fine Chocolate took the top spot. WHNT News 19

- ➤ Orion Amphitheater hosted its first Rocket City Pickle Fest on Sunday — the event marked a new local celebration of unique flavors in our community. WAFF 48
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ The Alabama Legislature has enacted acts such as the Rolling Reserve Act of 2011, Alabama Accountability Act of 2013 and Alabama School Choice and Student Opportunity Act of 2015 that stabilized funding and improved education opportunities. The new RAISE Act will provide 130 million dollars in needs-based funding for public K-12 schools in fiscal year 2026 + community support remains key to helping all students succeed. 1819 News

- ➤ Four hemp companies sued Gov. Ivey and AG Marshall over HB445’s exclusion provisions, claiming the law’s vague guidelines and harsh penalties will harm their ability to transport and sell hemp products.
