- ➤ The United Auto Workers filed a petition on June 30 with the National Labor Relations Board to represent 220 full-time and part-time manufacturing workers at International Motors’ powertrain facility on Short Pike Road Southwest in Huntsville — the filing excludes clerical employees and engineers. International Motors said it respects its employees’ right to unionize and will maintain open dialogue while following labor laws. AL.com

- ➤ Priceville police stopped 38-year-old Joshua Heath Russell on Thursday night near Highway 67 and Robinson Street and found fentanyl, methamphetamine, additional controlled substances, drug paraphernalia, U.S. currency, and a firearm in his vehicle — he was arrested and faces charges of trafficking dangerous drugs and unlawful possession with a bond set at $95,000. - ➤ An audit from the GAO found that Space Force does not fully bill for extra costs on launches, and companies such as SpaceX, Blue Origin and ULA in north Alabama are affected — current law caps reimbursements at 30%. The Pentagon will update its rules to recoup more funds for facility upkeep after Fiscal Year 2026 — a change that could bring in millions each year. AL.com
- ➤ Raytheon Co. was awarded a $77.2 million Department of Defense contract that will bring work to Huntsville and California over the next six years. The contract covers repair, production, and sustainment of navigation receivers used in military aircraft — work scheduled to finish by June 30. FOX 54
