ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ Ider Police Department said drivers should use an alternate route after a deadly wreck on AL-75 and CR-134 involved heavy equipment and a motorcycle at 8:24 a.m. on July 14—chief Malone urged motorists to avoid the area. WHNT News 19
CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Huntsville Police arrested 45-year-old Cedric Tremel Briggs on Friday night after he allegedly shot into an occupied home and an unoccupied vehicle during an argument—he is now held in Madison County Jail on a $75,000 bond. WAFF 48
- ➤ The U.S. Department of Justice charged five Alabama residents on Monday for illegal cockfighting operations—three from Blountsville, one from Albertville, and one from Hayden who are accused of organizing derbies between March and June with spectators paying $40 and competitors facing high entry fees. - ➤ A Huntsville man was arrested after a shooting on Friday night when officers responded to a report on the 400 block of S. Edgemont Drive and charged 45-year-old Cedric Tremel Briggs with firing into an occupied residence and an unoccupied vehicle (he had fled the scene before being caught). WAAY 31
- ➤ Huntsville police arrested Cedric Tremel Briggs, 45, on Saturday after he shot into an occupied home and an unoccupied vehicle over the weekend following a verbal dispute—no injuries were reported. WHNT News 19
- ➤ A Huntsville woman was arrested on Sunday after a traffic stop near University Drive and Jordan Lane led officers to find 27 grams of methamphetamine in her pocket — she now faces charges for unlawful possession with intent to distribute and drug paraphernalia — and she was taken to Madison County Jail on a $20,300 bond. - ➤ On July 14, AAA reported that gas prices in Huntsville averaged $2.74 for regular fuel, $3.16 for mid-grade and $3.48 for premium, compared to national averages of $3.15, $3.62 and $3.98. Decatur and Florence-Muscle Shoals reported regular prices of $2.71 and $2.72 respectively—figures that show local fuel costs remained lower than the national rate. FOX 54

- ➤ City leaders in Huntsville are seeking more than $15 million in federal grants to improve transit services and make the system more efficient and green. The funds will pay for renovations at 500 Church Street—buying six new hybrid electric buses and eight battery electric paratransit vans with new charging infrastructure. WAAY 31
