- ➤ Town Madison is getting new hotels, restaurants, and other businesses as it nears 60% to 65% completion—a Courtyard and a Residence Inn by Marriott are almost finished while Homewood Suites and Walk-On’s Sports Bistreaux are open. The development also has plans for Escapology, Marx Optical, Ardent Preschool, and new homes as a new interchange near Toyota Field brings more traffic to the area. AL.com

- ➤ A Huntsville woman, Amber Baker, is accused of shooting 22-year-old Nicholas Howell on June 16 in self-defense—her attorney asked for immunity and a judge ordered written arguments from both sides over the next five days. WAFF 48
- ➤ Judge Herman N. Johnson Jr. ordered on July 14 that a classified documents expert be named as the security officer in the case against Missile Defense Agency worker Ewa Ciszak, who is charged with taking secret and classified documents from her office to her home between January and June, and six alternate officers will step in+ the move is meant to protect sensitive information as the government plans to show some details in court. - ➤ Developers are building four market-rate houses on 50th Street North in West Woodlawn—priced at $259,000—and Woodlawn United will soon break ground on affordable housing on Georgia Road in South Woodlawn. Local officials say these projects will give residents access to homes without displacing community members. AL.com
- ➤ Huntsville veterans bought more homes in the first half of 2025 as VA purchase loans jumped 18.8% to 851 compared to 716 last year—around 80 Gen Z service members have used the loan program to start homeownership. Huntsville Business Journal
