- ➤ Jayda Russell joined WAFF 48 as the new First Alert Weather forecaster and returned home to Huntsville after working in Savannah; her debut aired on Sunday, July 20 at 5 p.m. and 10 p.m. — she will begin geological studies online at Mississippi State this Fall. WAFF 48
- ➤ Huntsville’s Ditto Landing is working with the Tennessee Riverline to develop a master plan that connects communities along the river & boosts outdoor recreation. - ➤ A two-vehicle crash at the intersection of Kilpatrick Road — Highway 431 in Albertville on Sunday night claimed the life of 53-year-old Elena Montejo Lopez, a restrained passenger who was pronounced dead at the scene, and the Albertville Police Department is investigating the incident. WAFF 48

- ➤ A woman was stabbed at a Sparkman Drive business on Sunday afternoon and was taken to Huntsville Hospital Trauma Services in stable condition — HEMSI reported the incident, and the police are investigating further. WHNT News 19

- ➤ Huntsville residents have recently captured a bear on video and reported alligator, bobcat and coyote sightings as growth moves closer to natural areas—wildlife officials explain that expanding development near the Wheeler National Wildlife Refuge is leading to more frequent encounters with local species.
