- ➤ Madison County and The People’s Patch will give away a free ear of roasted, locally grown corn at the county farmers market this Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at (1022 Cook Ave). AL.com
CRIME NEWS
- ➤ The Limestone County Sheriff's Office said three women were arrested on child sexual abuse charges from a report filed on July 12 involving alleged abuse and sodomy of a child under 12, with one suspect (Crystal Lee McCart, 38) held on a $250,000 bond and the other two (one from Athens and one from Elkmont) awaiting hearings. - ➤ Jazz in the Park will return this September at Big Spring Park West with free concerts every Sunday that feature both local and national jazz talent—supported by the City of Huntsville and Downtown Huntsville, Inc. WAAY 31
- ➤ Huntsville’s Jazz in the Park will move to Big Spring Park West every Sunday in September due to construction on Big Spring Park East, and the free series will feature local favorites and new voices. The lineup includes acts like Emily Joseph Band at 5 p.m., Kayoband featuring Kelley O’Neal at 6 p.m., and Phil Denny at 7:30 p.m. on Sept. 7, with additional shows on Sept. 14, 21, and 28 — city officials say the series boosts our music scene. - ➤ Today, Huntsville City Schools opened its new Office and Career Tech Center on Memorial Parkway to give 700 students hands-on learning in 11 trade programs such as culinary arts, welding, and cosmetology—school officials said the center was built with high-tech labs and local partnerships to prepare students for the workforce while consolidating career programs from multiple high schools. - ➤ Huntsville Utilities closed the inside northbound lane of Memorial Parkway between Oak Dairy Lane and Veterans Drive for water service line repair work on Thursday night—drivers were advised to use alternate routes and expect shifting traffic patterns.
