ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • Two adults and four children were injured in a car wreck on Elkwood Section Road and Highway 231 in Hazel Green – all were taken to Huntsville Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.  WAFF 48
  • A head-on collision near Highway 72 and Epworth Drive on Saturday left one person dead and injured another when two SUVs collided at about 9:30 p.m.—Huntsville police said the trapped driver later died after being rescued by fire personnel.  WAFF 48
  • A car wreck in Huntsville left one person in critical condition.  WAFF 48

  • Kanique Mighty-Nugent told 48 Now that The BOLD Market honors Huntsville Black-owned businesses in celebration of Black Business Month—local vendors will join the event to showcase their work.  WAFF 48

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Stylists from across North Alabama joined a back-to-school Braid-a-thon—offering free hair styling and positive messages to help kids get ready for the new school year.  FOX 54
  • Today, Huntsville City Schools begin classes with students and staff starting a new year that includes a state-of-the-art tech center and renovated facilities. Superintendent Clarence Sutton said 2200 families still need to register — the district will enforce a new cell phone policy and realign grade levels to manage continued growth.  WAFF 48
