A 12-year-old died after riding a Manco Dingo go-kart in a Meridianville neighborhood on Saturday evening when the cart veered off the road and struck a culvert on Stewart Road—troopers said the child was not wearing a helmet and was taken to the hospital before the injuries proved fatal.

Huntsville police are investigating an apparent murder-suicide on Kennan Rd after a man and a woman were found dead in a home.

U.S. Census Bureau data using 2023 estimates shows that Shelby County tops Alabama with a median household income of $93,543 while Limestone and Madison counties follow with median incomes around $83,530; nine other counties reported median incomes from $64,589 to $78,993.
