- ➤ Police say a suspect barricaded himself in an apartment outside Gate 10 near Redstone Arsenal after firing into an apartment and, following a negotiation effort, the armed 38-year-old Edward Deon White surrendered—he was arrested and charged with discharging a firearm into an occupied dwelling while nearby residents were evacuated. - ➤ State Senate President Pro-Tem Gudger previewed the final legislative session, saying lawmakers will meet on Jan. 13 at the Alabama State House in Montgomery to consider a bill that would extend the death penalty to child rapists and another that would require protesters to remove masks.
