- ➤ An overturned 18-wheeler closed exit 340-B at the I-65 and I-565 interchange yesterday as Decatur Police reported no injuries—officials said the exit will reopen when it is safe. WAFF 48
BUSINESS NEWS
- ➤ America’s largest owner of TV stations announced it bought its rival for $6.2 billion, forming a company that will own 265 stations in 44 states and the District of Columbia. The deal added Huntsville’s WZDX and may boost the firm’s leverage with advertisers and pay-TV distributors — a move intended to make it more competitive with Big Tech and traditional media. AL.com

- ➤ A person was injured in a shooting at an apartment complex on Torrance Drive in Huntsville Monday night — police are investigating the case. WAFF 48
- ➤ Huntsville police are asking for help to locate 25-year-old Lazarus Howard III from Madison who has been missing since July 19th—he last spoke with his mother on July 10th and may have ties to Central Alabama; anyone with information should call HPD Investigator Brett McCulley at 256-746-4133. - ➤ The Huntsville Music Office will host two free events in Nashville this September during AMERICANAFEST to showcase North Alabama music. Muscle Shoals Meets the Rocket City will run on Sept. 9 at Martin’s BBQ from 5 to 9 p.m.—Rocket City Ramble will take place on Sept. 11 at Acme Feed & Seed from 12 to 5 p.m. City of Huntsville

- ➤ The City of Huntsville entered into agreements with two high-tech companies that will add more than 700 jobs and invest $14 million in new facilities—Performance Drone Works will open an 87,720 square foot facility while Parsons expands operations to create 198 new jobs. The deals include city incentives for employee training, recruitment, and relocation tied to meeting hiring benchmarks. City of Huntsville

- ➤ On Monday, HPM announced that the Raymond B. Jones Engineering Building at UAH reached its full height at 70,000 square feet, marking a key step in the project that will open in June. The new facility will provide modern labs and flexible classrooms for more than 2,850 engineering students — supporting hands-on learning for future technical careers. Huntsville Business Journal
- ➤ Construction firm HPM celebrated reaching a milestone on Aug. 12 when faculty, staff, and the construction crew signed a white painted beam marking the topping-out of UAH’s $59 million Raymond B.
