CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ The Huntsville Museum of Art will reopen this Sunday after six months of HVAC renovations that refreshed gallery spaces and introduced new artwork. The museum will offer free admission from noon to 5 and plans to resume its $5 after 5 events in the near future. WAAY 31
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ The City of Huntsville reached a settlement with the family of Public Works employee Hank Hornbuckle—who died in a truck crash on US 231 in Marshall County in July. WAFF 48
- ➤ The City Council on Thursday approved a resolution to add weekend drone coverage by modifying a $25,000 monthly contract with Skyfire AI—Council members also passed plans to replace the Peter Fagan Railroad Bridge for improved downtown flood mitigation and to create 12 acres of park space. They also awarded a $1,760,000 contract for Tollgate Trail improvements, set a public hearing on plans for 572 acres of annexed land, and confirmed plans to add electronic traffic alert signs on Memorial Parkway and Highway 72. - ➤ The Huntsville Northern Bypass has opened as phase one finished with a new intersection at Memorial Parkway and Bob Wade Lane (improving driver access). FOX 54
- ➤ The Huntsville City Council approved an increase in the voluntary surrender fee at Thursday's meeting, raising it from $35 to $50. The higher fee will help Huntsville Animal Services cover the cost of vaccines, microchips and health check-ups for animals arriving at the shelter. WHNT News 19

- ➤ The Limestone County Health Department released scores for food and lodging establishments inspected from August 18th to August 22nd, showing a range from 84 at Jack's to a perfect 100 at Mazda Toyota Manufacturing U.S.A. in Huntsville (the report also noted critical violations at several sites).
