- ➤ Valentina's pizzeria in Madison will host a 9/11 memorial fundraiser on Thursday, Sept. 11 to raise $24,000 in 24 hours by offering $9.11 menu items — the event includes custom memorial pizza boxes with victims' names, live music, a fire truck display, a silent auction, and support from local dealerships for first responders, veterans, and families of fallen heroes. - ➤ On Saturday, the Huntsville community gathered for Dee’s Freedom Walk to honor victims of suicide and raise mental health awareness—residents joined together in support of the cause. WAFF 48
- ➤ The Rocket City Trash Pandas held their Beer & Wine Festival at Toyota Field—attendees enjoyed unlimited samples of over 100 beers and wines. The event marked a return to a popular venue for local fans. WAFF 48
ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ A car and a dump truck collided at about 1:18 p.m. on Friday on Union Grove Road near King Drive two miles south of Laceys Spring in Marshall County—killing 21-year-old John P. Streit of Marbury and injuring the dump truck driver who was taken to Marshall Medical Center North. WHNT News 19
- ➤ On September 5, Huntsville police responded to a crash near Drake Avenue and Downing Street that injured two people—one driver suffered critical injuries and was taken to a hospital while the other had minor injuries. FOX 54
ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ Electric vehicle groups will showcase a variety of EVs at two north Alabama events (Cullman on Sept. 13 from 9 a.m. to noon and Huntsville on Sept. 20 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.) while federal tax credits for new and used vehicles end Sept. 30. EV owners will share their personal experiences (including details on cost savings) to help buyers separate fact from fiction. AL.com
