Huntsville’s Sandra Moon Community Complex is scheduled for a ribbon cutting later this month.
The former Grissom High School building offers 100,568 sqft with a 611-seat theater that booked its first show on Oct. 1 – local groups already are eager to use its diverse spaces.
🎭 Culture
Jazz in the Park returns to Big Spring Park with free concerts on Sunday evenings all September.
The event runs from 5 to 9 p.m. and features live jazz, food trucks and family activities downtown with the next show on Sept. 13.
🎓 Education
Madison County Schools purchased 272 acres in the Hazel Green and Toney area last Friday after the Board of Education voted 5 to 0 to acquire the property from the Bragg family.
The district plans to use the land to support growing educational needs as the community expands.
🏥 Health
Multiple product recalls affect Alabama as consumers are urged to return items including grill brushes, frozen berry mixes, dressers, children’s toys and nut butter due to potential safety risks.
Affected products are sold at Walmart, TJ Maxx, Burlington and online retailers.

Jacksonville State football defeated Eastern Kentucky 49-7 on Saturday at AmFirst Stadium.
Jamill Williams set a record with four touchdowns & Creel threw for five scores while Caleb Nix returned an interception.
Fans can vote for the top local high school football performance from Week 3 with standout plays from teams like Madison Academy and West Morgan on display.
Voting ends Wednesday morning and winners will be announced on social media Thursday + in this newsletter next Sunday.
