- ➤ Aviation fans in North Alabama can enjoy the Airfest today and tomorrow at Pryor Field, where gates open from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. and about 30,000 visitors from over a dozen states are expected. More than 15 performers will take flight, including the Army Golden Knights and local pilot Skip Stewart, and organizers say the event will boost local spending—supporting economic growth. WAAY 31

- ➤ The Rocket City Toy and Comic Expo takes place at the Jaycee’s Community Building at John Hunt Park this weekend, featuring over 50 vendor booths displaying vintage toys, comics, and Pokemon for collectors; VIP entry is $10 starting today at 9 a.m.—Saturday entry is $5 later in the day—and Sunday entry is $5 with free admission for kids 12 and under. - ➤ Registration for UAH’s 72nd Annual Science and Engineering Fair opens this month — teachers can register starting Sept. 15 and student registration begins Sept. 29 while a new NARSEF Direct option lets students participate even without a teacher; the event will be held on March 6 on the UAH campus and includes competitors from 13 North Alabama counties. - ➤ Madison County officials said that the intersection of Pettus Road and Pine Grove Road will close beginning Monday, September 15 to let crews build a new roundabout—Pettus Road between Douglass Road and Mt. Zion Road will be shut while residents retain access to their homes and Legacy Elementary School remains reachable via Wall Triana Highway. WHNT News 19
- ➤ Norfolk Southern will begin several weeks of railroad crossing repairs on Sept.15 in Huntsville, Gurley, and other parts of Madison County — each repair will cause temporary road closures lasting less than one day. - ➤ Today, the City of Huntsville announced that AI cameras will not be installed on garbage trucks this fiscal year—officials will focus on more research and community education on the technology.
