COMMUNITY NEWS

  • The Huntsville Music Office hosted a Music Industry Career Fair and Community Expo at the Von Braun Center on Saturday - the event aimed to link local job seekers with music industry professionals.  WAFF 48

CULTURE NEWS

  • North Alabama Airfest — an action-packed airshow event — is taking place today at Pryor Field Regional Airport and will run through the weekend for local aviation fans. The event will feature exciting flying displays that draw crowds from across Huntsville.  WAFF 48

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Huntsville has approved $4.73 million in federal ERA2 funds to redevelop the Huntsville Summit Apartments into Meridian Commons, a project that will create 100 affordable rental units for low income seniors and disabled residents. The redevelopment will begin early 2026 and be completed by mid-2027 — Neighborhood Concepts will handle temporary relocations for current residents.  AL.com
  • Retired Jefferson County Circuit Judge Teresa Pulliam died on Sept. 12; the Huntsville native served for 18 years in Birmingham courts and later led prison reform at Redemption Earned—she is remembered for her fairness and kindness. She is survived by her husband and daughter.  AL.com
  • Norfolk Southern will begin several weeks of railroad crossing repairs across Madison County on Monday, September 15.  WAFF 48

SPORTS NEWS

  • On Thursday, September 11 and Friday, September 12, 2025, high school football games across the state delivered a mix of close and decisive results—James Clemens beat Huntsville 31 to 14 while Andalusia won 42 to 21 over Greenville and teams such as Benjamin Russell and Moody recorded big wins. The scores reflect a competitive day in regional high school football with varied performances in matchups from several schools.  1819 News
  • Alabama beat Wisconsin 38-14 with Ty Simpson passing for 382 yards and throwing four touchdowns in the game.  WAAY 31
  • FOX54 highlights the Sparkman High School Varsity Dance Team—five-time national champions and 2023 state champs—practicing indoors as they prepare for homecoming. Team members stress their long-time dedication and family traditions while Head Coach Maria Laughlin looks forward to her first homecoming as coach.  FOX 54
  • During Friday’s game against Priceville, West Morgan High School football player Cole Thorn fell and suffered brain bleeding—he was taken off the field on a stretcher, a surgeon stopped the bleed, and he is expected to fully recover as he remains sedated for several days.  WAFF 48
