State Sen. Donnie Chesteen said the AHSAA did not follow the CHOOSE Act rules as intended and compared it to the NCAA for not fixing its problems.
He said lawmakers will work on changing the rule in the 2026 session (R-Geneva) after a judge let CHOOSE Act students play sports (on Alabama Public Television).
Kalen DeBoer's Tide beat Vanderbilt 30–14 in Tuscaloosa — they kept the Commodores from scoring in the second half.
The North Alabama Lions lost 52—23 to the Abilene Christian Wildcats and dropped to a 1—4 record as the Wildcats scored first and amassed 499 yards of offense.
