- ➤ The Maple Hill Cemetery Stroll was held on October 10 in downtown Huntsville and featured over 60 costumed characters sharing local stories with music, historical exhibits, and scavenger hunts for kids. - ➤ Tangled String Studios, a local music spot, announced on Friday that it will close on Jan. 1 after nearly 14 years of service and creative shows for the community — the studio has planned final live events featuring local groups to mark its farewell. EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Hartselle City School leaders recently added a safety app called Raptor that lets teachers send an emergency alert with one push—this app helps staff quickly share their location, check rosters, and notify emergency teams to keep students safe. The new system will improve emergency response times and documentation during crises. WAFF 48
- ➤ Three Huntsville women are sharing their personal stories to empower young women through the AUM Foundation mentorship program that offers professional development, mental health courses and enrichment. They will unite on Oct. 18 at Bollywood Night at the Von Braun Center—raising funds to support their mission. WAAY 31

- ➤ Malcolm Gopher, owner of 708 Bar and Grille, told city council on Thursday he felt unfairly singled out after his restaurant was shut down in September for alleged gun violence and drug activity—his reopening hearing is set for next Wednesday. WAFF 48
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Alabama’s Medical Scholarship Program pays for the last two years of medical school—exchanging that benefit for a three-year service commitment in rural clinics. The program will help bring more doctors to underserved areas and ease clinic shortages. WAAY 31
