  • First Horizon Bank is investing $150K in Huntsville startup programs run by gener8tor, including gBETA Huntsville and Spark at MidCity. The funding will give local entrepreneurs mentorship, capital connections and support to grow the city's innovation economy.  Huntsville Business Journal
  • Toyota Alabama began assembling three new differentials to boost the performance of the Toyota Tacoma, Tundra, and Sequoia lines on Wednesday. The production effort promises 350 new jobs as part of a $282 million investment from 2024 — reinforcing the plant’s commitment to advancing local manufacturing.  WAFF 48

CULTURE NEWS

  • Award-winning author Jen Hatmaker will visit Blue Apple Books on October 21—she will host a VIP meet-and-greet from 4:30 to 6 p.m. in Madison and then deliver her keynote address at Columbia High School in Huntsville at 7 p.m.  The Madison Record

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Madison City Schools announced that students will be dismissed early on Wednesday for teacher development. Pre-K students will leave at 11 a.m.—elementary students at 11:30 a.m. and secondary students at 12:15 p.m.  WHNT News 19
  • Adam Feldbruegge of Westminster Christian Academy in Huntsville has been named FOX54 Top Teacher for teaching 11th and 12th grade science and will serve as head coach for the Girls Varsity Basketball team, with their first practice held Monday. He builds a family culture in his classroom and coaching—emphasizing accountability, communication, and effort as he prepares students for success.  FOX 54

HEALTH NEWS

  • Huntsville Hospital is expanding its Madison Street Tower to ease crowded ER wait times—adding 100 beds and converting to all-private rooms. The $150 million project will include specialized ICUs, three floors of acute care, and 500 new jobs, with the new tower set to open in spring 2027.  WAAY 31

SPORTS NEWS

  • Today, the Tennessee Valley high school football season kicks off with the game-of-the-week as Scottsboro meets Arab, and Friday will feature additional matchups including Huntsville versus Florence at Milton Frank Stadium—local teams aim to build momentum during a busy weekend.  FOX 54
  • Brendon Jethroe left home-schooling and joined Bob Jones High to play football, losing 100 pounds to become a starting offensive lineman. He received a scholarship offer to play in college and plans to study aerospace or electrical engineering as he builds on his success—his journey shows how hard work can change a life.  The Madison Record
  • Rocket City Trash Pandas announced their 2026 Southern League season home schedule at Toyota Field — the season will open on April 3 at 6:35 p.m. with a game against the Biloxi Shuckers. The schedule includes 69 home games, mostly starting at 6:35 p.m., and features special start times for Education Day and Opening Weekend matinee games.  FOX 54
  • Brayson Albin, a junior at Bob Jones, earned a five-star rating at the Rubio Long Snapping Fall Camp in Nashville and is now rated the best long snapper in Alabama as well as No. 4 nationally among his class. His performance has drawn interest from colleges including Alabama, Auburn, Florida State, and TCU as he prepares for upcoming competitions.  The Madison Record
