- ➤ One Generation Away is handing out food and supplies to federal workers hurt by the ongoing government shutdown—many are waiting for their pay. The community group will continue its daily aid to help those in need. WAFF 48
- ➤ Huntsville Parks and Recreation has planned several Halloween events for families at local recreation centers from October 18 through October 31, including Boo Bash, Monster Mash, and a Frightful Night of Fun and Games. The schedule also features the fourth annual Halloween Party and Haunted House at John Hunt Park (3-8 p.m.), where attendees can enjoy free candy and costumed fun. WHNT News 19

- ➤ First Horizon Bank has formed the Huntsville Advisory Board to guide planning and business development in our area — the board is led by veteran executive Ginger Harper and includes local leaders from key sectors. - ➤ Boeing’s Huntsville facilities have received a $2.7 billion contract to produce over 3,000 missile seekers at rates of up to 750 units per year through 2030—these units form part of the Patriot Advanced Capability-3 system used by the U.S. Army to strengthen missile defense amid global conflicts. - ➤ Farmers in the Tennessee Valley have started harvesting cotton while struggling with tariffs that boost costs and lead to low prices—one Elkmont farmer said prices hit only 63 cents per pound. - ➤ Residents met at Buckhorn Middle School on Tuesday to oppose Integra Water’s permit for a new wastewater plant on the Flint River—they say poor notice and modern development may bring pollution, noise and lower home values.
