- ➤ Community members in Huntsville are using 14 Little Free Pantries stocked with shelf-stable food to help neighbors affected by the SNAP cutoff. Alex Forsythe, who has maintained the pantries since 2021, said they are emptying quickly as people take extra items to secure food—an online group for food assistance has grown rapidly. WAFF 48
- ➤ Huntsville Parks & Recreation is working with Christmas Charities Year Round to run the Cozy Care Holiday Drive from now to Dec. 8—local residents can drop off clean, wearable coats, hats and gloves in the lobby boxes at recreation centers. - ➤ Workers at Parkway Place Mall finished setting up Santa's workshop on Sunday night as they prepared for his arrival tomorrow, November 6th. Santa will be at the mall through Christmas Eve—posing for photos and reviewing wish lists from local children. WAAY 31

- ➤ The Huntsville Botanical Garden is urging local supporters to vote once a day until Dec. 1 at 10:59 a.m. for its Galaxy of Lights light show, which ranked second in USA Today’s Best Botanical Holiday Light Show list in 2023 and 2024 and will try to reach first place for its 30th anniversary—marking 30 years of cherished holiday traditions. - ➤ Meteorologist Grace Anello predicted on Tuesday morning that chilly conditions would give way to a sizeable warm-up just hours later—her forecast indicated a quick temperature rise in Huntsville. WAAY 31

- ➤ On Tuesday, Huntsville Utilities closed a stretch of Toll Gate Road SE between Dill Street and Bankhead Parkway NE to repair a broken utility pole. Repairs ended by 12 p.m. — officials urged drivers to use alternate routes and exercise caution around workers. WHNT News 19
- ➤ The HudsonAlpha Institute for Biotechnology received over $2 million from the Alabama Research and Development Advancement Fund to support three state-funded projects in agriculture and forestry. The funding will back the TRIALS program, boost crop improvement efforts, and secure wild forests by matching investments from partners—positioning the state as a leader in agricultural bioscience. - ➤ The City of Huntsville broke ground on November 4th at the U.S. Veterans Memorial Museum in John Hunt Park to start a $9.98 million expansion that will add nearly 35,000 square feet for memorabilia and modern upgrades. Ivey announced Tuesday that she is releasing $2M in emergency funds to support eight food banks serving all 67 counties as SNAP recipients face a lapse in benefits amid the federal shutdown—this funding aims to help over 300,000 children and vulnerable families.
