  • The Food Bank of North Alabama, partnering with One Gen Away, will give away free groceries on Tuesday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Toyota Field (500 Trash Panda Way in Madison) and Milton Frank Stadium (enter on Ivy Avenue) in response to the government shutdown.  WHNT News 19

CULTURE NEWS

  • Jack Aynsley and Paige Metcalf, a British couple, have made videos of their three visits to Alabama that show trips to Huntsville, Mobile, Tuscaloosa and Birmingham during football games and a rural Airbnb stay. They plan to share more videos soon—hints include future stops like Fairhope and the FloraBama after a Mountain Brook visit featuring a $3 million castle-like home for sale.  1819 News
  • The Huntsville India Association hosted its annual Diwali festival that featured food, music, art, and dance for the community—celebrating long-held cultural traditions.  WAFF 48

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Madison City Schools rezoned about 1,700 students after a Nov. 6 board meeting approved a new zone map to ease overcrowding and remove the need for portables at schools like Mill Creek Elementary. The plan includes opening Russell Branch Elementary in West Madison for the 2026 to 2027 school year and revising bus routes as school leaders responded to community feedback.  AL.com

  • Limestone County officials launched the Perimeter Platform website to alert residents when first responders and public safety agencies are active—covering road closures, traffic crashes, public safety incidents and community events.  WHNT News 19

  • A new full-service health clinic is coming to the Northwoods neighborhood where the Huntsville Housing Authority partners with HAPPI Health to open a facility by April 2026—offering adult and pediatric care, behavioral health, urgent care and lab services in retrofitted classrooms at the Calvary Hills Library building.  WHNT News 19
