- ➤ Huntsville Parks & Recreation will host a full month of holiday events, with festivities — like the Big Spring Jingle on Dec. 19 at Big Spring Park and a Toys for Tots Drive on Dec. 14 at Johnson Legacy Center — set to offer festive activities for all ages across the city. City of Huntsville
- ➤ A community screening of the documentary My Mama Joe, Hope & Help is set for this Friday, November 21, from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at the Huntsville Marriott at the Space & Rocket Center — the free event will feature a discussion with the film’s producer to share caregiving best practices. - ➤ The Local (a new restaurant in downtown Huntsville) opened November 10 and now serves Southern-inspired sandwiches, salads and comfort food created by Chef Luke Hawke. The 40-seat venue offers box lunches and catering orders while operating Monday to Saturday from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. WHNT News 19
- ➤ Allegiant Travel Company announced a new non-stop flight from Huntsville to Gulf Shores that will begin on May 21—offering leisure travelers a quicker way to reach the beach. One-way fares start at $39 and tickets must be purchased by today for travel by August 18. WAFF 48

- ➤ The Orion Amphitheater announced that ZZ Top and Dwight Yoakam will perform on Saturday, April 18 as part of the Dos Amigos Tour. Showtime will be 7 p.m.—doors open 90 minutes earlier and tickets go on sale Friday at 10 a.m. WHNT News 19
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Calhoun Community College in Decatur surpassed 10,000 students — its biggest enrollment jump in over a decade — making it the state’s largest two-year college. The college will celebrate the milestone tomorrow at 1 p.m. in the Advanced Technology Center to highlight investments in new facilities and academic programs. WHNT News 19

- ➤ USPS urged Huntsville residents to send holiday gifts early to meet recommended deadlines, setting them at December 17 for Ground Advantage Service, December 18 for Priority Mail Service, and December 20 for Priority Mail Express Service—customers can also use online tools to pay postage, schedule pickups, and track packages. - ➤ A Bob Jones alumnus launched a free 24/7 AI phone line that connects residents to city services. Aubteen Pour-Biazar said the service began last week and lets residents call (256-692-6481) to ask questions, file requests, and get help, and the team will add more features from community feedback. - ➤ A temporary water outage occurred Tuesday, November 18 in northern Madison County on Dee Neeley Rd from Greenville Pike Rd — Joe Quick Rd as crews began work at 8:00 a.m. and finished by 3:00 p.m. The outage was part of system improvements by the county water department. WHNT News 19

- ➤ The fall 2025 Leapfrog Hospital Safety grades—tracked for 20 years—have been released and show that four Alabama hospitals earned an A grade, including Flowers Hospital in Dothan, North Baldwin Infirmary in Bay Minette, Baldwin Health in Foley, Riverview Regional in Gadsden, and Southeast Health in Dothan. Hospitals in Montgomery, Huntsville and Madison received an F grade. 1819 News
