COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Today, Downtown Rescue Mission hosted a Thanksgiving banquet in Huntsville that served warm meals to hundreds—providing support to those experiencing homelessness.  FOX 54
  • Rose of Sharon organizers collected donations at the Arcadia Circle soup kitchen on November 26 to prep for their Thanksgiving feast — the donations will help provide holiday meals for local families.  WAAY 31

BUSINESS NEWS

  • The 2025 HBB Live Black Friday Shopping Experience will be broadcast online on Black Friday—offering live coverage of local deals and exclusive promotions for shoppers. The event is set to stream all day and give local residents a chance to catch special discounts.  WAFF 48

CULTURE NEWS

  • The North Alabama Marching Pride makes its first Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade appearance today after 18 months of preparation—students had visited New York City and Washington, D.C.  FOX 54

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The Alabama Department of Transportation announced it has suspended lane closures on interstates during Thanksgiving to ease congestion and improve safety. The suspension began yesterday at noon and will end on Sunday at 11:59 p.m.  WHNT News 19

HEALTH NEWS

  • On November 19th, Huntsville Hospital held a topping-out ceremony to mark the completion of exterior construction for its $150 million Madison Street Tower expansion — the five-story, 154,000 sq ft addition will add 120 new patient rooms, an improved ER trauma entrance, and specialized care units, and it is set to open in spring 2027. The project, designed by Chapman Sisson Architects with Robins & Morton as contractor, reflects the hospital’s effort to meet the region’s growing healthcare needs.  Huntsville Business Journal
  • The University of Alabama in Huntsville College of Nursing has launched Neighborhood Nursing to provide free health screenings in underserved Madison County neighborhoods such as Triana and Huntsville Housing Authority starting in January — nursing students under faculty supervision will test for conditions like diabetes, cancer, and mental health issues and refer residents to local clinics for further care.  WAFF 48
  • With Thanksgiving near, food safety experts in Huntsville urge home cooks to thaw their turkey properly, use a food thermometer to reach 165 degrees and wash hands for 20 seconds— they advise keeping raw foods, allergens and cooked items separate while discarding leftovers within three to four days.  FOX 54
  • Monrovia Senior Center opened a new Meals on Wheels site at 254 Allen Drake Drive after five years of planning—delivering hot meals to 25 residents on Nov. 17. The program will continue daily with volunteers preparing meals for those in need.  The Madison Record
